My New Blog

If you are looking for a home in a new neighborhood, here’s a home-buying tip: Don’t forget to ask the selling agent whether the home you are considering is subject to restrictive covenants. Restrictive covenants are community rules that homeowners must follow. Once, they were most prevalent in historic districts, but now they are becoming increasingly common.

Typically imposed by local governments, homeowners’ or neighborhood associations, these rules may govern the color of the house, how high a fence can be, where you put the satellite dish or whether you can park a boat or RV in front of your home. If you plan to renovate or enlarge the home, your community rules might require that you get approval of the plans from the neighborhood association.

Before purchasing a home, it’s important to have all of the facts. Home buying is easy when you have the help of an expert. I would be delighted to help you with the purchase of your next home.
